Review by Zefr

I can’t explain what it is that compels me to like this sick, filthy, disgusting Sound that Corpse Carving continues to churn, going back a few years ago I didn’t like slam or anything close to it, In fact I used to be really negative towards it, but as far as slam and its likeness goes, this album is awesome, and possibly my favourite slam album to date.

I bought it when I saw the guys at Sonic Distortion 3 which was my first gig in quiet some time. Looking back on that gig many bands stood out for me but Corpse Carving really fucked with my senses. With that sick sense of humour on every track and the stage presents of the drum machine sitting in the back corner, I just had to buy this album.

The first track, “Disgorging a mess of human flesh”, lets you know of their sick intentions immediately and is nothing but fast paced riffage and programmed brutality with a capital S, making it my favourite track on the album. Its predecessor, “Served with maggots”, offers a sample equal to any I’ve ever heard and gives that awkwardness that a good grind track needs. Over all the albums simple but entertaining riffs offer brutal, yet soothing sound for hardcore gore fans and the drum loops show you how talented toms programming skills are with each track crystal clear and deafening.

Moving on to tracks 13 through to 22, you’ll find brutality as hard as it comes, Gore grind, Italian style, from the lads in Mincer. This was my first taste of the Italian Grind Maestros. At first I saw a slight comparison to the generic bands within the grind/gore/slam scene but after listening to their tracks several times through I really couldn’t point a single fault and haven’t looked back since. The first track offers you an intro fitting for any horror or thriller movie murder scene and makes way for a barrage of riffage and verbal sickness. Stand out tracks for me were the intro (Womb of putrid Chaos) and track 17 “Verminous cum” with it’s intense guttural growl leading the way for spastic riffs and pure goregrind ferocity.

All in all I think this is the best split corpse carving have participated in to date.
